Once Jawaharlal Nehru said, ” You can tell the condition of a nation by looking at the status of its women.”
If it is true, then a million dollar question arise, where does India stand?
If we speak about theoretical perspective, India offers a lot of opportunities to women, with having a voice in everyday life, the business world as well as in politics. But Practically India is still a male-dominated society, where women are often seen as subordinate and inferior to men.
Our Country is on the high roads of success but still for a woman her life is a battle for survival and dignity from her birth to death.
It is impossible to think about the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved. It is impossible for a bird to fly on only one wing.— Swami Vivekananda
Be nice. Don’t be loud. Don’t be stubborn. Don’t argue. Be modest. Be respectful. Don’t speak out. Be a good wife. Be a good daughter. Be a good sister. Uphold the family honour. One way or another, these are things girls hear almost every day.
The notion behind this article was pretty simple. We wanted to attack patriarchy as it exists in India. It sort of comes out every time there is an assault case or a rape case. The first thing that happens, instead of focusing on the crime and looking at the perpetrator, the default for some reason is that the burden is always put on the woman.
You got raped? Must be because you were wearing provocative clothes, Or were hanging out with boys, Or were talking on the phone, Or were out at night, Or stepped out to have a career, Or you had consumed alcohol, Or you were not a virgin. Or… Or… Or… it’s amazing how many things women can do wrong that just forces those poor men to rape them.
Ladies you think rape is something men do out of the desire for control, empowered by years of patriarchy? You have been clearly misled by the notion that women are people too because let’s face it, ladies, Rape is your fault.
It all began with what you wear; scientifically studies suggest that women who wear skirts are the leading cause of the rape, but you know Rapists have their own theory, according to them clothing doesn’t matter if you have a vagina then you are eligible to be raped.
“Tharak” will never discriminate any age whether you are a 6-year girl, a teenage girl or a 70-year-old woman. Notice what they all had common that’s right all women.
No women No rape, So Dear ladies sorry but it’s your fault.
Indian culture provides several progressive methods to counter rape for example Godman (Asharam Bapu) prescribed Bhaiya degree, where you refer your attacker as bhaiya and guess what rape is cancel.
Another way women shamelessly propagate rape by working late into the night so ladies why to work late and be independent, in fact, some males also take a view that the females of the house should not go out and work, God know how does it proves their “Mardanagi” by suppressing a woman and imposing their thoughts over her.
Powerful people have been spreading rumors that things apart from you can cause rape. For example Chowmein, Chowmein is made in the kitchen and who is in the kitchen yeah right. Movies, and who titillates men on screen –women and Cell phone, phones are made for talking and who talks a lot again you ladies.
Let’s do not forget if you have been humiliated by rape you can always go to cops and humiliated by them instead.
Society is the biggest reason behind problems faced by women, to move ahead it has to be left behind.
Rape is one type of exploitation women are facing, there is a long list from which we try to explain few:
1. Shielding From Stares and Groping
” It natural for men to stare you.” You have to protect yourself by wearing proper clothes. But an extra layer might lower chances of getting stared at, but being groped doesn’t stop even at burkhas. Women suffer horrific groping and touching in overcrowded buses, trains, and metros.
2. Violence against Women
According to a man, hitting a women will prove himself a muscular one and her body is a medium to be stressed out and used to vanish frustrations by scratching it.
3. Selective abortion and female infanticide
Eight times, she got pregnant, hoping for a son. Eight times, a daughter was born. Eight times, she strangled her daughter and buried her. Because according to their family, son’s are “Budhape Ka Sahara” and girls are just a burden.
4. The Consequences of ‘Coming-Of-Age’
Once she turns 21, getting a girl married becomes her family’s top priority. Parents, relatives, and even their friends eagerly undertake a mission to find the perfect match. During this search, we are ‘advertised’ on the basis of our physical attributes like our complexion and features and not our educational qualifications.
During this search, Girls are ‘advertised’ on the basis of their physical attributes like complexion or features, not by their educational qualifications. As if being judged by our bodies wasn’t enough, we even need to make a payment in the form of dowry to get men to marry us.
5. Constantly Being Labelled As Someone’s Property
Throughout lives girls have been objectified. To their parents, they’re ‘Paraaya dhan.’ To boyfriends, their ‘chicks.’ To a lech, they’re ‘maal’ and some families even call them ‘bojh’ or burden.
The reason behind that Burden thing is stress of her marriage, but it is completely wrong to force them to get married at a certain age. It should be her choice to be married or not, she is ready or not, always parents can’t be master of a girl’s future decisions.
6.Dowry and Bride burning
In India, daughters are always a liability, and sons an asset – quite literally. When a daughter reaches marrying age, an outrageously expensive dowry must be paid to her husband’s family to make her happy otherwise they will burn her on fire.
This dowry system, which has created the anti-female society that results in female feticide, infanticide, neglect, abuse, and death, is not based on actual need; rather, it is “greed-based.”
7. Society Concern
If you are living alone far from the home then, Indian uncles and aunties hardly ever let you do your thing without interfering in every move you make.
There are some taboos revolving around our society which should be abandoned soon like a short dress, drinking or smoking, late night parties, SEX, etc. Our society grants a tag of characterless or Slut if they found any girl in these type of activities. Funny naa??
Being able to travel alone, is one dream every girl supposes of but is unable to fulfill thanks to the “Akeli ladki ek khuli Tijori ki tarah hoti hai” mindset.
8. Love Marriage and Honour Killing
In India nowadays parents allowing their daughters for so-called love marriage with several T&Cs i.e. boy should fulfill eligibility criteria as:
- Same Religion
- Same caste and community
- Good family background
- Financial stability
If any of the criteria won’t satisfied then, society may have another news regarding honour killing. Dear ladies, it’s not about your feelings, your emotions, your life and your love it is about your family’s pride, their respect and most importantly “LOG KYA KAHENGE”.
9. Limited Education
In our narrow-minded society, only boys are preferred for higher studies because according to these male dominating locality only males can earn real money.
So They restrict their daughters around the four walls by disallowing her to make a career and be independent.
Every Parent wants their daughter in law as well educated but if you are limiting education of your daughter then you have no right to demand or expect a well settled in law.
So Girls if u want to be literate, screw your parents, get married and expect from your in-laws to invest in your studies. (A Satire)
10. Marital Rapes
We all know that Rape is a crime but there is also a condition, if he is your husband then it is not considered as a crime as per law. Main problem is that wife is considered as a property and some Mantras give a man complete control over her bodies and decisions after marriage.
People are mentally conditioned to look at marriage as a free pass to have SEX. And there rises a sense of entitlement. The notion of the wife being an “asset” is deep-seated.
Dear Females, get over with the “Mera Pati Parmeshwar Hai“ propaganda If he rapes you ,he is in no way different from a fucked up animal.
Few Lines from My Choice Videos:
To be a size zero or a size 15, they don’t have a size of my spirit and never will…
To come home when I want. Don’t be upset if I come home at 4am, don’t be fooled if I come home at 6pm…
To marry or not to marry, to have sex before marriage, to have sex outside of marriage, to not have sex, my choice…
To love a man, or a woman, or both, To have your baby or not, my choice…
Do you agree with my views? How can this condition can be improved? We need a change a positive society, so our sisters, mothers and wives can roam freely.
